Worgfest 2014

Before dark

And so it came to pass that the long-awaited and much anticipated Worgfest 2014 took place this last weekend. Tootall did a great job of organising everyone and providing fantastic food, bbq and a spare tent, as well as making sure we had great music and the all-important breakfast the following morning. It was also a great opportunity to help both Luke and Rachel celebrate their birthdays.

Mark spent last week preparing his Circle of Love, including the bonfire (which Dickie rightly spent several minutes rebuilding).

Mark & Heidi also spent most of Saturday morning building the hugely important official signage:

The sign

Tootall blossomed as DJ extraordinaire, spending the night dishing out top tunes from a table top in the middle of a field.

Hey dj

The impromptu stage (with lighting and everything) played host to several top performances, mainly from the girls, who loved dancing and jumping around on it. Jess even managed a bit wheelbarrow dancing, before Lewis toppled over the edge in the wheelbarrow and that was the end of that game…

But perhaps most exciting was the revelation that if I stand or sit in the middle of the paddock, I will get signal on my mobile. Rachel did a superb job of finding exactly the right spot for the best signal. I’ll be building my office there soon.

We have signal!!

The cider flowed, perhaps a bit too freely, burgers and sausages sat alongside marshmallows and festivities continued well into the night.

All the children loved camping out and most of them even lasted quite late, playing hide and seek in the dark, dancing and generally being feral.

We’re already planning next year’s event which promises to be even bigger and even better. I only hope people won’t be put off by having to share a tent with beehives and chickens, which will hopefully be in place by then!
